Originally from Rosedale / Dundalk the Epics were formed by members of the Delmonicos, and the Satins. Members included James ‘Baby’ Brown (vocals), John Girard (sax, keyboard, lead vocals ex-Satins), Gene Orth (guitar ex-Satins), George Peacock (sax), Ron Hughes (sax), Dick Lynas (bass), and Marty Fischer (drums) – later replaced with Jim Hafer (drums). (Gerard, Orth, and Peacock formerly of the Satins). Guitarist Chet Dembeck of the Stratfords also played briefly with the group. The Epics performed at CYO dances, Unity Hall, Satyr House, Hollywood Park, and at the Southern Inn’s Sunday jam sessions with Just Us Four, and Freddie Rick.

Fischer went on to join Bob Brady’s Con Chords which later became Pen Lucy. Lynas performed with a duo called Rick & Debbie who were seen as house band at the Flaming Pit circa 1969-70. Gerard was later with The Package, Raintree. Hughes later with Impact. Hafer joined the Package. Brown fronted his All Stars group at clubs such as the North End Lounge, York Club, Dotson’s in Glen Burnie, and the Bamboo Lounge on Pennsylvania Ave. He went on to write and perform gospel music as Wesley Davenport.

The Epics reunited for a special concert on June 15, 2002 with the Dynamics, Majestics, Mello Men, and Charmed Times Reunion Band.

Reunion of 60’s band featured most of the original members. The group recorded a promotional CD in 2006 that featured covers of songs they originally performed. Lineup featured Dick Lynas (bass), Gene Orth (guitar, vocals), John Girard (vocals, keyboards), Linda Girard (vocals, guitar), George Peacock (sax, vocals), Jim Hafer (drums), Ron Hughes (sax, vocals).
