Tenor sax player attended Douglass High School. Andy is the brother of singer Ethel Ennis and he appeared with many of her backup bands through the years. Andy was also a member of the Esquires in the late ‘50s, and performed with Tracy McCleary’s Royal Men of Rhythm at the Royal Theater, Mickey Fields groups, and others.

Professionally he went on to work with Bill Doggett’s band in the mid-’60s, and as the Ray Charles Show bandleader for over ten years. Ennis appears on the 1970 Ray Charles album “My Kind of Jazz” (Tangerine 1512), and the single from the album “Booty-Butt” b/w “Sidewinder” (Tangerine 1015).

In late ‘70s Andy could be seen performing at the Bandstand. He continued to play in ‘00s as a member of Earl Wilson’s Phase One jazz group seen at the Caton Castle.
