The Dixie Wind Band was formed in 1992. It was founded by veteran country musicians Mark Beauchamp from On the Rise, Jim Mays from The Silver Dollar Band, and Larry Phillips from 301 Country. Phillips was the drummer, Mays played bass and handled vocals, and Beauchamp doubled on lead guitar, pedal steel, and also vocals.

The band played a lot of country, but also many other styles as well. Together for over 15 years, the band played well into the 2000s. Designed as a lodge band, their home base was the Westminster Moose Lodge where they performed regularly. They also played Moose Lodges in Frederick, Hanover, Reisterstown, and College Park. They were regulars at the Littlestown Eagles, and played a number of private parties. Other Musicians who did stints with the band were Lou Campagnoli on drums, Greg Fenlon on drums, plus Johnny Hawk (vocals), Jimmy Brown on bass, Cliff Martin (drums -Shiftwork Entertainment, RonnieDove).
