Top-40 band formed by ex-Black Hat members Stan Gibson (alto sax, tenor sax, flute), Dave Hoppe (keyboards, synthesizer), and Mike Fortino (drums), with Tim Flaherty (lead vocals, percussion ex-Sound Kavity…), Larry Regan (lead guitar), and Jerry Neal (bass).

The band was managed by Moe Laisure and played covers of hits by The Average White Band, Kool and the Gang, Doobie Brothers, Ohio Players, KC & The Sunshine Band, and as Gibson recalls “whatever was hot at the time.”

They played South Baltimore clubs including Nick’s Musical Bar, The Golden Greeks, McCormicks Lounge, and Essex area clubs such as Horn’s Lounge, Hoffman’s Lounge, Midway Lounge, and The Loft.  The Cupkake band headlined at the Baltimore County Fair, and also played many private parties and weddings.

Guitarist Earl Spivey also did a stint with the group. Flaherty, Neal, Gibson, and Spivey later formed Warehouse… Regan later with 5th Avenue…
