Drummer Joe Gross a.k.a. Joey Charles was a member of Ralph Johnson’s Good Luck Charms for more than ten years. He was studio drummer for most Wedge Records label recordings.
In 1965 he released the single “The Rub” b/w “Little by Little” (Dome 4002). “The Rub,” arranged by Joey Welz, featured backing by The Delighters and featured a wild extended drum solo which was ahead of its time. The flip side “Little by Little” features vocals by Dome Records owner Ralph Johnson. An updated version of “The Rub” was featured on Baltimore’s “Teen Beat a Go Go” album in 1967.
