Pianist/vocalist, blind at birth, learned to play as a youngster. He took piano lessons as a student at the Maryland School for The Blind.

In the ‘80s and ‘90s he played for the gospel group Abundant Life that released the 1992 CD “Stand on His Word” (A&M). He also worked with Julius Brockington, Barbara Coates, and many other pop, jazz, R&B, and gospel artists.

As a member of the Gumption Band Brooks played keyboards and produced their 1988 CD “Gumption! Ain’t Got None? Better Get Some,” and “The Gumption Review” CD collection featuring local artists. He produced “The Bleu Lights Forever,” and the Bleu Lights 40th anniversary CD “Bleu Lights in The Basement” (2007).

Locally Brooks performed with aforementioned groups as well as Tiny Tim Harris & the Do It All Band, Deanna Bogart, Charles ‘Big Daddy’ Stallings, Diane Postell, and many others.

Brooks passed away in 2007 at the age of 41.
