Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and songwriter. Early bands included Eliza Jane, Meat, Steamboat Willie, Climbadonkey, Ravyns… Brewer also co-wrote Appaloosa’s 1976 record “Steal the Night Away.”
After the demise of the Ravyns, Kyf moved to New York where he began a successful career creating advertising jingles. Notably he could be heard nationally for Chevrolet “The Heartbeat of America,” spots for Ivory Soap, and many others.
In 1988 he formed the New York based band Company of Wolves (see bio).
A diversified musician, Kyf also led the Philadelphia based Ceili band Barleyjuice whose CD releases include “Barleyjuice” (2001), and “Another Round.”
As a solo artist Kyf released the CD’s “Me and My Big Mouth” (1994), “Salvador Deli” (1998), “Steryl Spycase” in 2001 (a new Company of Wolves album), “Bright Jewels” (2002), and “Sunny Bites.”
His 1998 ‘solo’ album “Salvador Deli” featured Brewer (guitar, drums, keys, bagpipes, vocals), with additional studio work by Dave Woodworth (guitar –Climbadonkey, Lucifer, Night Train…), David Bell (guitar, vocals –Ravyns, Toy Soldier), John Conte (bass –Company Of Wolves), Lee Townsend (bass –Climbadonkey, Ravyns), Mindy Jostyn (fiddle, mandolin), Chase Morrison (cello), Britt Savage (vocals), and Keith Swanson (wind, percussion).
Kyf’s songs have been featured on television shows such as “Party of Five,” “Baywatch” and “Dawson’s Creek.” Kyf also provided voice-overs for the VH1 cable TV show “Before They Were Rock Stars.”
