Bluegrass fiddle player, a graduate of Patapsco High School, Blair performed in many South and East Baltimore clubs during the ‘50s and ‘60s most notably with Marvin Howell & the Franklin County Boys. He developed a reputation that eventually enabled him to perform with bluegrass greats Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, Jimmy Martin… Kimball also toured with Charlie Moore and appeared on several of his albums. After returning to Baltimore, he played in local bands Dukes of Bluegrass, and the Newline Bluegrass band with his brother Ken. In the late ‘70s he toured and recorded with the Bluegrass Cardinals, as well as other regional artists including the Adams Brothers…

In the late ‘70s his sons continued the family tradition forming the band Warren Blair and Southland Bluegrass. The group featured Warren (fiddle), Ken Blair (guitar), Darrell Blair (bass), and Wayne Ashmore (dobro). The group was featured regularly at the Cub Hill Inn, played as house band at Club Ranchero,  and released an LP in 1983. In the ‘00s Warren occasionally sat in with country band Allen Brown & the Wishing Well.
