Baltimore City based R&B/funk band featuring M. Elaine Douglas (alto and soprano sax), Ben Cunningham (tenor sax), Bobby Lucas (baritone sax), Montez Jordan (trumpet), James ‘Bonky Wilkes’ (lead guitar), Billy (bass), Dennis Chambers (drums), and Melvin Garrison (lead vocals).
“This is the REAL Black Eye Peas lineup, and the TRUTH will set ALL CONCERNED FREE” according to Elaine. “We did Kool and the Gang, James Brown, later Earth Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, and anything that was FUNKY. We performed at the first soul festival, the first City Fair, you name it we were there.”
“Our hired guns were, Lloyd ‘Skip’ Dorsey (guitar), Rodney ‘Skeet’ Curtis (bass), Mike Singleton, Ricky Ratliff (bass), Greg Grainger (drums), Brian Spencer, Aaron Thomas, Alan Lee, Melvin Garrison was on vocals.
