Inspired by the internationally successful “U.S.A. For Africa” and “We Are the World” benefits, Baltimore musicians pulled together for this monumental charity event sponsored by the Citizen’s Celebrating Baltimore organization, to benefit the Maryland Food Bank and the Maryland Food Committee.
John Palumbo (Crack the Sky) wrote the lyrics and music for the piece “Home Is Where the Help Is,” and with a combined effort of musicians and media – including WIYY-98 Rock, WBAL-TV, and WMAR-TV, organized an all-star lineup featuring many of Baltimore’s top musicians and vocalists. The recording was produced by Ty Ford and recorded/mixed at Sheffield Studios. Palumbo (guitar, bass, keyboards), and Vince Santoro (drums ex-Sinbad, Vission) provided the background music.
Lead vocals were provided by Kyf Brewer (Ravyns), Tim Camp (Bootcamp), Ron Campbell (Starider, Last Picture Show), Joanne Dodds, Rob Fahey (Ravyns), Tessie Grace (Cry Monday), Aleta Greene, Lamont Johnson (The Look), Phil Lean (Prophecy), Scott Lean (Prophecy), John Palumbo (CTS), Debbie Jacobs Rock, Tony Sciuto, Kenny Taylor (DC Star), and Steve Whiteman (KIX).
The chorus consisted of Albert Berry (The Heat), Tony Berry (The Heat), Kevin Eaton (The Look), Bob Fallin (Bootcamp), Greg Grainger, Frank Grande (Bootcamp), Steve Hedgpeth (Baltimore News American), Ivan Opher (The Look), Glynis Reed (The Look), Sukarno Richardson (The Look), and Howard Zizzi (Bootcamp, Tiffany…).
