Formerly known as the Progressions, A Taste featured Ricky Peters and Trudy Cooper (who both alternated between lead vocals and drums), with Bob Grimm (guitar), Skip Herbert (guitar), and Jeff Lutzi (bass). Herbert was later replaced with Walt Bailey. The group worked as house band at Judges and eventually traveled to New York where they recorded at Electric Lady Studios.

Shortly after returning to Baltimore from New York, Lutzi left the group, Bailey switched to bass guitar, and they changed their name to A Taste. In their absence from Judge’s another local band, the Koffee Beans, had been hired in their place. The club usually staged double bills, so management decided to keep both as house bands to keep from losing either of these top-notch bands.

A Taste later moved to the much larger Mardi Gras club on Harford Road (also owned by Judge’s) as house band. They made appearances as the opening act for many national groups including Jefferson Airplane, the Cowsills (Lyric Theater 4/26/68), and the Buckinghams.

The band continued to evolve under various names including Light, Good Grief, Flow, and Touch. Grimm later replaced Bob Gaudio in the Four Seasons. Herbert and Bailey joined the Mike Jones Band, and Lutzi joined Maypole.
