Rock band. Members included Sheri Hoffen (lead vocal), Ian Gilchrist (lead & rhythm guitar ex-Shape of Things), Andrew Ladd Gilchrist (bass), Steve Engelbach (keyboards), and Michael Anthony DeFilippi (steel drums, percussion).

Zed could be seen for an extended stay at the Sierra Torch Club where they worked doubled bills with other local bands including Trilogy. They also appeared at the Latin Casino, Sherwood Forest, Frock’s (Westminster), and the Steelworker’s Hall for a notable concert on October 8, 1972 with Joshua, Coyote, Grok, Turn Blue, and Staggerwing. Zed also performed Super Rock Sunday Concerts at the Eastwind, and could be seen in late ‘70s at Apples on Belair Road, Electric Circus in Towson…

The band released an independently produced self-titled album in 1979. Their song “The Winner” was included on the WKTK “Maryland Music ‘81” album.

Hoffen went on to front the ‘80s metal band Cat & the Burglars / Cat Trax. Engelbach joined the Joanne Dodds Band.
