Drummer, vocalist, arranger. Originally from Baltimore, Woody played drums for the Last Dynasty. In 1971 he joined DC R&B group The Choice 4. After relocating to New York and joining a group that was known as The Jam Band, then Pipeline, they did extensive studio work with many artists including Sylvester, Disco-Tex & the Sex-O-Lettes, Faith Hope & Charity, and Salsoul label artists including Jocelyn Brown who convinced Cunningham to showcase his vocal abilities. Woody was founding member of the Universal Robot Band in 1976. The group was renamed Kleer and went on to release seven albums on Atlantic Records from 1979 until splitting up in 1986.

Woody went on to work with Luther Vandross, Narada Michael Walden, Kashif, and others, and released two solo R&B albums. He passed away January 10, 2010.
