Singer/songwriter/producer/guitarist/recording artist, cherry’s musical style is a melding of folk/pop/jazz. Originally from Texas, Kristin Putchinski aka ellen cherry has been described by Baltimore Sun Pop Music Critic Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan as “…a cross between Cowboy Junkies and Liz Phair.” In addition to solo work, nationally and locally, cherry played with local groups Move Like Seamus, Scarborough Affair, June Star… She has shared stages with the likes of Glenn Tilbrook (at Rams Head), Jane Wiedlin, Boys II Men, and many others.
In 2003 she established her own Wrong Size Shoes Recording Studio. Her music has been featured on television’s Fox and Oxygen networks, MTV, and numerous movie soundtracks… Her composition “Alonzo’s Lullaby” won the national puppetry association UNIMA Citation of Excellence in 2009. The Maryland State Arts Council recognized cherry with grants for Vocal Performance (2007), and Music Composition (2009)… In 2010 she earned an EMMY nomination for “We Are Baltimore” (Fox Network). In 2010 she reworked her 2005 CD “Years” and released as “(New) Years,” the album named finalist in Indie Acoustic Project’s “Best CD’s of 2010” awards.
