Fred Robinson began his radio career in Atlantic City. While in broadcasting school he toyed with using the on-air name “Rockin’ Fred Robinson” but it was too long. Coincidentally the Bobby Day’s “Rockin’ Robin” was a national hit and the name Rockin’ Robin stuck with him.

In Baltimore Robinson started with WEBB… he would say “if your heart can take it, come fly with me!” … “Hello young lovers, this is Rockin’ Robin, the potentate from the garden state, the Baltimore butterball, the solid sock with the hard rock.”
In addition to the on-air work, Robinson also moonlighted as a concert emcee. One of the shows he hosted was his “Rockin’ Robin Show” at the Civic Center” on August 14, 1966 featuring the Van Dykes.
He was also a partner with Premier Attractions as a concert promoter.
During his career he worked at WEBB, WWIN, and back to WEBB where he presented late ‘70s dance music on “WEBB…your disco machine.”
