The Break was a pop and rock group formed in early 1990 featuring Steve Bisson (guitar, vocals ex-Blind Eye, Brindle, Come Dancing, Fastbreak, the Klassix); Greg Worsley (drums ex-Blind Eye, Brindle, Fastbreak, Bad Neighbors); Dave Pugh (briefly – guitar, vocals -Bad Neighbors); Tom Godwin (guitar, vocals ex-The Devonshires); Dave Wetherell (vocals ex-Red October); and Pete Miller (bass, vocals ex-Fastbreak, Shannon Tide, later with O’Malley’s March).
For six years the Break had a regular gig at the Ott House in Emmitsburg. They could also be seen at the Dulaney Inn, Junction Station, Nabbs Creek Café, the Sweet Air Café, Pepper’s (on Belair Rd.), and other area clubs. By 1992, Wetherell left and lead vocal duties were taken over by Kathy Marino and later, Amy Strazzella. Pete Miller left in Nov. ’93 and Mark Dawson (guitar, guitar-synth, harmonica and vocals – ex. Fastbreak) joined the band. Dave Morz (bass, lead vocals) had a stint with the band in the mid-90s, as well as Harry Debusk (bass, vocals – ex. Cha Cha Boys). In 1998, along with further personnel changes, the band became known as the Bottomline.
