Born and raised in Timonium, graduated Dulaney High School, singer/songwriter/guitarist/ comedienne Cheryl Wheeler began her songwriting career at the age of 17, and her professional performing career not long after that at the Steak & Ale in Timonium in 1972. During the early to mid-‘70s Cheryl played regularly at the Angel’s Grotto in Towson, as well as many other venues in the Baltimore and D.C. areas.

In 1976 Cheryl moved to New England where she continued to reside, perform, and tour nationally, including many appearances at the Newport Folk Festivals, and sharing stages with national acts such as Steve Forbert, Jonathan Edwards, and Dan Seals – who covered her 1985 song ‘Addicted’, taking it to #1 on the U.S. Country music charts.

Her first record in 1983 was a promotional E.P. for a ‘Newports Is Sports’ store titled Newport Songs. Since then, she has released over 12 full length albums. Her songs have been recorded by the likes of Garth Brooks, Suzy Bogus, Dan Seals, Peter Paul & Mary, Juice Newton, Linda Thompson, Melanie, and Bette Midler, who once said “I first saw Cheryl Wheeler at the bottom line in New York and have been a big fan ever since.”
