R&B / blues / jazz guitarist Marshall ‘Boozie Baby’ Booze took an interest in music at an early age. He learned drums, bass, and electric guitar. Mentored by friends O’Donel Levy, Chester Thompson, and Mickey Fields, Booze was primarily known as a guitarist. He began playing guitar during the ‘60s and was subsequently with many local groups including Carlos Johnson’s Zone 1, Wildfire, One Step Beyond, In Flight, Arnold Sterling Band, Mickey Fields Trio, Bobby Rucks Band, Dave Ross Trio, Fuzzy Kane Trio, Vernon Wolst’s Big Blues Band… Booze also toured nationally as a member of Richard ‘Groove’ Holmes Band along with drummer Bobby Ward (ex-Teddy & Tempos, Intruders, Groove Holmes…). The group played locally at the Sportsmen’s Lounge.

As leader of the M.C. Booze Band in the ‘00s his group performed jazz, Motown, and R&B at clubs, concerts, and festivals throughout the region… Brickhouse (Catonsville), Columbia Village Concerts… A live recording of Booze and his group was released in 2001 featuring Mary Fair (keyboards, vocals), Mike Holliday (keyboards, trumpet), Reggie Braxton (bass), and Tito Gaither (drums). Through the ‘00s the group has also included Dave Coward (drums), Warren Christian (bass), and Johnny Mason (drums)… Booze was also a featured guitarist with The Urban Retropolitan Movement in ‘00s.
