Rock band formed by members of the Gigs, Cain Brothers, and Summer’s Misfits. Staggerwing played many teen centers, school dances, and clubs throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s. They were also seen performing at the Steelworkers Hall concert on October 8, 1972 along with Joshua, Coyote, Grok, Blue, and Zed; and at the Unity Hall on Friday October 11, 1974 with Roadwork. Seen at Network in Pasadena in ‘85.

Members included Reed Martin (lead vocalist ex-Gigs), Bobby Peters (bass ex-New Diablos, Cain), Darryl Matarozza (bass ex-Gigs), Kirk Dancy (keyboards ex-Chapter VI, Gigs), Bunky Markert (guitar – later with After Six, Capris), Vernon Snead (guitar ex-Trilogy)…

Later members of Staggerwing Alex Makaravich, and Timmy Stillwell both left the band in 1985. Michael Kundrat (drums). Dave White (keyboards) was member in mid-’80s before going on to Mannekin, and nationally successful Warrant.

A 1986 lineup featured Charlie Higgs (guitar ex-Teazer), Howard Sperlein (bass, vocals), Dave Murphy aka ‘Bird Murphy’ (guitar), Dave Naro (bass), and Dean White (drums). The group toured nationally. Ron Hupfeld (bass – later with Special Delivery…).

Matarozza was also with Paper Cup, Shor Patrol, the Approach.. Martin later joined Gazze, Stranger, Horizon, and continued to perform in the ‘00s with the Satellites, and The Gigs. Higgs was later a member of Empire and taught guitar at his All About Music Learning Center.
