Frederick based punk band placed in Baltimore Sun sponsored battle of the bands leading to a showcase at the Eight by Ten. Formed in 1984, the group consisted of Andrew McCutcheon (lead vocals, guitar), Ben Steen (guitar), Dennis Crolley (bass, keys), and Stephen Blickenstaff (drums).

The Skeptics played clubs in Baltimore such as the Galaxy Lounge, Trenton Street Stop, Marble Bar, as well as Frederick and DC venues…

Steen eventually departed and the group continued as a trio, releasing a cassette, and an album titled “Snallygaster” (Resonance Records).

Crolley then left the group and was replaced with Kevin Sefsic. This lineup released the cassette “No Bones About It.” Sefsic was next to leave with Crolley returning.

The group split up in 1989. They reunited for a show at the Frederick Cultural Arts Center on August 4, 2007, and plans are to release a retrospective of their recordings.
