A British style rock band seen in May 1967 at the Last Straw Teen Center in Ellicott City. They became known as Sad in summer of 1967. Members included Bob Barnes (guitar), Mike Wessely (guitar), Gene Ricks (bass), and Neil Hattaway (drums). Bill Ricks replaced Barnes on guitar.

“Arthur (Otts) Mattison was in a band by this name”, according to his daughter Michele Stanton (Mattison) “I believe, and they played at the Bluesette as well as mixers at Gibbons.”

The group became known as Calhoun.

Bill Ricks later played extensively in Fells Point known as ‘Baltimore Bill’.
