Teen band won audition on WAAM-TV and performed at the Paul Whiteman Big Brother Benefit at the Baltimore Coliseum on November 26, 1952. Members included Ringold (trumpet), Carroll Clark (sax), Thomas Shipley (bass fiddle), Albert Dailey (piano), and Owen Pinkney (drums).
Pinkney went on to play in the All Star Jazz Group, Henry Baker Quartet, and formed his own group in the late ‘50s. Dailey also played for Pinkney’s group and went on to become recognized as one of Baltimore’s finest jazz pianists. He attended the Peabody Conservatory in the ‘50s and played for Tracy McCleary’s house band for the Royal Theater. He joined the Stan Getz Quartet in the ‘70s. Albert appeared on many recordings by jazz greats including Freddie Hubbard’s “Backlash” (1966), Gary Bartz “Another Earth” (1968), Stan Getz “Best of Two Worlds” (1974), Elvin Jones “Summit Meeting” (1976), Dizzy Reese “Manhattan Project” (1978), Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis “The Heavy Hitter” (1979), Tom Harrell “Ray of Light” (1982), “Stan Getz & Albert Dailey” (1983), and LP’s by Larry Coryell, Keith Copeland, George Russell, Ray Alexander. Dailey performed at the annual New York City Jazz Festivals. He passed away in 1984.
