Group formed in Fells Point as a “high energy rock and roll show band.” Members included Dave Zincraft (lead vocals), Larry Sanders (guitar), Frank Mik (guitar), Rick (bass), and Tommy Stray (drums).

Phaze performed at many local venues including Julian’s, E.J. Bugs Saloon, J.J. Galligers (Fells Point), The Aquarius, The Bedroom (Essex), The Roxy (Dundalk), G.J.’s (Glen Burnie), the 1978 Fells Point Festival (on a triple bill with the U.S. Primes, and the Merrylanders), many union dance halls. Regionally the group played at the Rock Garden (Elkins, WV), the Wizard (St. Marys, PA), The Other Place (Ridgeley, WV where newspaper and radio ads touted them as “Baltimore’s Top Band!” – whether true or not, it was appreciated by the band members!)…
