Kevin Johnson and the Linemen, an alternative country band, formed in 1991. Kevin Johnson (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, songwriter) had come out of the Baltimore/DC band The Revellaires, Eric Brace (bass, backing vocals) from the DC band B-Time, Bill Williams (guitar, slide guitar, mandolin) from the DC Band The Invoices, and Antoine Sanfuentes (drums) from the DC band Dream Kitchen.
The band performed regularly from 1991-2000 at The Lyric Opera House, Max’s on Broadway, Fletcher’s, and The Eight By Ten Club in Baltimore, 9:30 Club (old and new), The Birchmere (old and new), DC Space, 15 Minutes Club, Chief Ike’s Mambo Room, The Beat Club, and The Roxy in DC, and nationally at CBGB’s, and on NPR’s Mountain Stage.
Additional members during 1994-2001 included Tony Flagg (bass), Dave Geigerich (dobro, pedal and lap steel guitars), and James Key (mandolin).
The band garnered reviews in No Depression magazine, The Washington Post, and the Baltimore Sun.
The band re-formed between 2012-2017 as The Linemen, adding Jonathan Gregg (lead guitar, steel guitar, vocals) from Jonathan Gregg and the Lonesome Debonaires from New York City.
