Blues / rock band led by James (guitar, vocals), with Bryan Benninghove (sax), John Rousey (harmonica), Paul Madigan (bass), Mike Kuhl (drums). Their 1998 CD featured guest appearances by Dave Makowiecki (trumpet), and Jason Adams (trombone).

In 2009 the Christopher James Band released the CD “Out of Wooden Boxes” with James (guitar, mandolin, harp), Jeff Reed (bass), and Jon Seligman (percussion).
Reed, a jazz bassist, also worked with Todd Butler, Paul Wingo, Brian Kooken, Phil Cunneff, Al Maniscalco, and many others.
