“Soulsational” Northwest D.C. area quartet plus vocalist. Members included Jim Strocchia (bass), Donny Smallwood (organ), Dennis Seitz…
They performed at local teen centers, high school dances, dinner clubs, night clubs…
The Group performed at a D.C. club called Somewhere Else. Jim recalled that it was funny that radio ads announcing that “The Group would be playing Somewhere Else” afforded them more airtime because the announcer would need to explain.
Future talk show host Sean (Morton) Downey Jr. ‘discovered’ The Group and took them to Connecticut to record a record. Although the record was never released, according to Strocchia the songs were re-recorded many years later and issued as a country album with Downey providing the vocals.
The teen group disbanded as members went on to college, etc… Strocchia joined Octagon… Smallwood was later with Sinbad…
