Vocalist Aleta Greene received formal training at the Maryland Institute of Art and the Peabody Conservatory. While performing at the Rock Theater she met David Franks who introduced her to many musicians. She soon joined the Michael Goldberg Band as a back-up vocalist alongside Emmylou Harris.

In the ‘70s Aleta worked with singer- guitarist Bob Brown (see bio) and appeared on his LP’s. She also worked with Meg Christian, Little Hans, O’Donel Levy, Tugboat (1974-76), Special Edition (1976-79), the Downstairs Band (1977-80), Jeff Pescetto (1980 – see-Jeff & Aleta)… After a brief hiatus from performing, she worked in a duo with guitarist Mark Roumelis (ex-Face Dancer) seen at the Café Park Plaza… and she later worked in a duo with multi-instrumentalist Paul Soroka.

Greene was recognized by Baltimore magazine readers polls as Best Female Vocalist (1980 as a member of the Downstairs Band), and Best Singer (1982 as duo with Mark Roumelis).

Aleta worked with many of Baltimore’s best musicians. She continued to perform a variety of folk, jazz, blues, and pop music in the ‘00s with her Aleta Greene Band, also with Lloyd Marcus, and Bona Fide…
