R&B group formed in 1981 by a group of veteran musicians, vocalists and song writers from the Baltimore area who were all a part of the studio band Some Friends of Mine. Their new name was chosen as a result of the group conclusion that in order to succeed in the music profession that they “would have to decide their FUTURE NOW. Thus, the group FUTURE NOW was created.”
Members included Guy (Curtis) Davidson (ex-Turning Point, Hot Flesh), Stanton Greene (keyboards, vocals ex-Persians), Greg Deanda (bass ex-Stanley Turrentine group, Motown sessions), Dennis Pearson (guitar ex-Turning Point), and Tony ‘Bones’ Anderson (percussion ex-Trinidad & Tobago Steel Orchestra).
Upon hearing a demo of the group, Billy Butler at Exact Change Records liked their sound and decided to finance and produce a session. The song “Space Games” (written by Davidson and Deanda) was chosen due to rising popularity of video arcade and computer games. The single was released on Salsoul Records. Locally the song charted in the Top-10 at radio station WWIN.
