Formerly a member of Joe Pasko’s Algiers, and Ronnie Dove’s Beltones, Westcott had his own band called the ABC Trio that performed at the One West in 1967. Bruce’s bands also performed at the Bonfire and as a longtime house band at the Cavalier Lounge at the Pimlico Hotel. The group returned to the Cavalier for 5-6 months every year.

The Bruce Westcott Trio released a ‘funky easy-listening’ style LP in 1969 “Here Comes Bruce” (MGM 4760). The trio featured Westcott (keys), John Armetta (bass ex-Ulysses), and Artie Kay (drums).

The smooth style keyboardist and vocalist frequently took his group to clubs in Las Vegas (Caesar’s Palace), Atlantic City, New York, California, Florida (Bruce & Lenny’s), Canada (Brown Derby)… His traveling band also included Stu Barnes (bass), Tony Sciuto (guitar), Michael Sciuto (bass), Marty Fischer (drums ex-Pen Lucy), Blair Aaronson (keyboards, mellotron ex-Lucifer’s Mother, Soul Searchers)…

Westcott’s band in 1977 included Dean Andrews (bass ex-Good & Plenty), Vince Chris (drums ex-Blackfoot Smoke, Cousin Fox, Sawbuck), with background vocalists Annie Harris and Fran Milianco.

August 1978

Chris went on to the band Main Event. Andrews could be heard in the ‘00s with the New Censation. Fischer went on to join Teddy Bell’s Bell System, and played for the Admirals in the ‘00s.
