Vocal harmony group formed in Washington, D.C. in the late ‘50s with Oliver Cosby, Gerard Cosby, Jimmy Falwell, Gilbert Farrall, and John King. Later the Cosby brothers and King left the group and were replaced with Bobby Horn (ex-Ambassadors) and James ‘Buddy’ Owens. In the ‘70s the group added vocalist Carrie Mingo, a former member of the D.C. female vocal group the Four Jewels.
The Velons released singles on the D.C. based BJM, and TEC labels. In the late ‘70s they released several singles and an album on the Ellicott City based Maxi Records. Their first album “Remember When…” was later reissued on Solid Smoke Records.
