Rock/funk band got their name from a news report of a man attacked by a moose in Alaska. Members included Scott Cimino (vocals), Gregg Simmons (guitar), Brendan Ciotta (bass), Scott Stephens, Rick Slezak (drums), Nick Reider (trumpet), J.J. Miller, John Stagg (sax ex-JoyRide), Dave Makowiecki (trumpet –JoyRide, Crack the Sky, CZEH…), Jim Kinkella, Dan Zywan (trumpet)…

UMA performed locally at Café Tattoo, 13th Floor, Hunter’s Lodge (Ellicott City), Mellow Beach Sunset Bar (Ocean City), Armadillo’s (Annapolis)… and toured nationally…

In 2000 UMA was finalist in Sennheiser Evolution Band Contest. Finalist (and grant winner) of Jim Beam Emerging Artists in 2001. Their songs were used in MTV series “Fanatic Underground” in 2001.
