Variety and rock band led by Frank Starchak (keyboards, vocals ex-2nd Cousins), with Sonya Starchak (percussion, lead vocals), Jamie LaRitz (guitar, vocals ex-Trigger Happy…), Dave Naro (bass), Dave Gosselin (drums, percussion, vocals -Exit Only, Wite Noyze…). LaRitz was replaced with Tobias Hurwitz circa 1987.
Toyz performed at Network, Purple Moose, Fran O’Brien’s, Wooden Nickel, Windsor Inn, The Barn, and many other regional clubs. They once backed up the Coasters.
Toyz recorded at Basement Floor Studios and released their first single in 1988. In 1990 released a cassette single “I Hate Rap” on their own Toyz Productions label.
LaRitz (see bio) also worked with many top local groups including Great Train Robbery, Crack the Sky, Cruel Shoes…) Hurwitz (see bio) went on to work with Empire, and later formed the Tobias Hurwitz Band.
