Guitarist/vocalist Art Todd was born in Baltimore March 11, 1914. While performing at the Biltmore Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island in 1941, he met and married Doris Dabb, a pianist/vocalist from Elizabeth, New Jersey.
The duo known as Art & Dotty Todd worked the club circuit in California and did some recordings including their song “Broken Wings” that charted in England in 1953, and “Chanson D’Amour”, a U.S. Top-10 million selling pop hit in 1958. On the strength of their lone U.S. hit the duo established a regular appearance at The Dunes in Las Vegas, once working a record 68 consecutive weeks at the same club.
In the 1980s the couple moved to Honolulu, Hawaii and opened their own night club.
Dotty died in 2000. Art died in 2007.
