Originals and covers rock band from Howard County. Members hailed from Glenelg, Centennial, and Howard High schools. They performed covers of artists such as Rick Derringer, Thin Lizzy, UFO, Black Sabbath, Robin Trower, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pat Travers, and others, as well as mixing in their original material.

Some of the early members included Bob Mascaro (guitar), Ricky (vocals), and Phil Medenbach (guitar). The “classic lineup” from 1979 into the ‘80s featured Mark Ford (vocals), Eddy Caglione (guitar), Kevin Wolf (guitar), Rick Mascaro (bass), and Ken Croghan (drums).

“We were sort of the house band at Cheng Du’s in Columbia for what seemed like years” recalled Eddy. “We played a lot of parties, we played at Glenelg High School, and at The Dipper in Beltsville a lot. We played at the University of Maryland in College Park, the battle of the bands at Howard County Fair (lost to Smokehatch in the final), and opened up for Mannekin at the Sandbar in Pasadena.”

In 1982 or ‘83 Rick and Ken left the group. They picked up Dave Abrecht (bass) and a drummer named Howard, both from a band called Livewire. They decided to use the Livewire name and put Synister to rest.

Eddy left the band in 1983 “to focus on my own material as ‘Fast Eddy.'” Abrecht went on to join Kik* The Dog, No Pets for Noah…
