Singer, guitarist, comedian. Stevens was originally from Philadelphia. He ran the Blue Dog coffee house in Charles Village, which later relocated to York Road near the Senator Theater. He can be heard on the live album “Blue Dog Cellar – Project 1” (Kimberly 1245) along with cuts by other local folk artists.

The Blue Dog burned in 1966. Stevens went on to perform his brand of comedy throughout the east coast folk circuit, and became a nationally known stand-up comedian. George was touring as a comedian, and perished in the plane crash that also took the life of Jim Croce on September 20, 1973.
