Towson band formed in 1965. Original members were Don McCormick (organ), Lou Sisson (drums), Mac Ford (rhythm guitar), Jim Holford (lead guitar), and Todd Chenoweth (vocals)…



Chenoweth was replaced with Jimmy Winters (ex-Frustrations, Uptowns) in May 1967. Holford left the group shortly thereafter and joined the Uncertain Things. Additional members included Pete Myers (bass)… The Spectres continued performing into 1968 and during final months together were managed by Dennis Constantine.

The Spectres were regulars at the Bluesette, and performed at many events all over town hosted by DJ’s Allan Field and Kerby Scott. They were seen at the Northwood, Hampton Teen Centers, Towson American Legion, Dundalk High School, Ellicott City Armory, Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellicott City, Owings Mills Fire Hall, Westminster Starlighters Teen Center, the Preakness Festival with Kerby Scott, Rogers Forge Teen Center…
In November ‘66 the band participated in a band battle at the Glen Burnie Armory vs. Severna Park’s Spectres hosted by WCAO’s Allan Field. In December ’66 they performed the Hampton Teen Center Holiday Hop with the El Corols.
Ford later played with Froggy & the Gremlins, Double Jeopardy…
