Selby, most likely from Cincinnati, worked steadily in Baltimore as house Hammond organist in the early ‘50s at the Club 1017, and the Club Casino. By the mid-’50s he had assembled a group featuring Rudy Collins (drums), and “the sensational” Willene Barton (see bio) on sax. They could be heard at Pennsylvania Avenue venues including the Club Tijuana, and the Club Casino in the late ‘50s.
