Bluegrass, folk and country singer, booked by Black River Productions. Originally from Galax, Virginia, Betsy grew up in the Baltimore area. She did performances at colleges and festivals, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in D.C., she sang with Bruce ‘Utah’ Phillips at the 1970 Philadelphia Folk Festival. Her 1971 album received good reviews in Billboard.
Betsy died in 1991 at age 47.
In 2010 her voice was heard on the Smithsonian Folkways album “Rising Sun Melodies,” a collection of Ola Belle Reed songs (Folkways 40202).
