The Ravins were a teen band who originated in the Medfield area of Baltimore. They performed British and soul covers by groups such as the Animals, Wilson Pickett, and some originals penned by guitarist Tony Sciuto (see bio). Members included Tony, along with Michael Sciuto (bass -see bio), Mark Neary (guitar), Steve Dorff (keyboards), and Steve Warehime (drums). They later added lead vocalist Rusty Steele. Rusty went on to join the Time Machine and was replaced with Mario Sciuto.

The group played CYO’s and teen center dances. Also competed at the Teen Fair Battle of the Bands at the Baltimore Civic Center in April 1968. It was at this Battle that Beatles manager Nat Weiss approached Tony about some of the original songs he had written. Tony was too young to travel to New York at the time, but he continued to hone his skills as a songwriter.

Tony later became a member of local bands Meat, Jake, The Gigs, the Pedestrians, Bruce Westcott Band, and had international success as a solo artist. In the ‘90s-00s he was a member of the Little River Band, and Player. Michael (see bio) continued to perform alongside his brother Tony in many of the same bands while becoming a successful and highly regarded bassist in his own right. Steele went on to the Time Machine, and Coyote. Warehime was also a member of the Tony Sciuto Band in the ‘70s-80s.
