Members included Jerry Gibbs (vocals ex-Chapparels), Pete Wilkin (lead guitar ex-Chapparels), Drew Finn (guitar ex-Escorts, Chapparels), John Minch (keyboards), Ron Warner (bass), and Dale Trusheim (drums).

Gibbs was later replaced with vocalist Gary Griffiths (ex-Moosical Migraine).

Minch eventually left the band and was replaced with another ex-Moosical Migraine member Billy Tudor. Trusheim later replaced with drummer Kevin James (son of WFBR DJ Mike James). Guitarist Marty Mettee (ex-Marauders) was briefly a member before joining the Graham Chambers System.
Their association with Dick Klotzman and Premier Attractions opened the door for the band to perform along with many big-name groups. They opened for Steppenwolf at the Civic Center in December 1968. Procreation and Baltimore’s Lemon-Lime performed in the U.S.-English Underground Spectacular at the Civic Center on February 16, 1969 with Vanilla Fudge, Butterfield Blues Band, and the first U.S. appearance of “England’s hottest new groups Led Zeppelin and the Gun.” On February 13, 1970 they opened for Iron Butterfly at the Civic Center. The group opened for Creedence Clearwater Revival at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in concert that also featured Baltimore group the Organ Grinders. Some of the local venues where Procreation performed included the Bluesette, the Dark Corner, Parkville Teen Center, Port Welcome cruises, and many teen centers such as Oakleigh, Hampton, and Hamilton…
Procreation appeared at the Shady News Benefit Concert on September 19, 1970 along with local bands Howdy Duty, Rasputin, Bette White, and Exit. They also competed in a Battle of the Bands in November 1970 at the Ellicott City Armory vs. Liquid Fire, Bosco, and Ignoramous.
Warner, Griffiths, and Tudor went on to become members of Panda. Tudor joined Aux, and then Urch Perch in 1972.
