Originally from Pittsburgh. Vocalist with the New Century Platters, a group that included his brother Van, as well as Baltimorean Bernard Purdie. Byrd worked with local artists Kim Waters, and Cyrus Chestnut. His Byrd Pressley Band played Ceasar’s Pocono Resorts where Pressley became entertainment manager.
