R&B vocalist from West Baltimore. His first band in the ‘60s was a teen band called Little Les & the Combinations. The group also featured childhood friend ‘Guy Curtis’ Davidson on drums. They performed at talent shows, cabarets, union halls, The Zoo teen club in Brooklyn, Royal Theater amateur shows… Les and Guy were later with the Camaros.
Parson’s first record release was the 1973 single “Music Turns Me On” b/w “Do You Take Time.” The label Monmore was owned by DJ’s Hot Rod and Al Jefferson.
In the late ‘70s Parson and Curtis formed the studio group Some Friends of Mine (see bio). They released several singles on Parsons’ Sylester label including “You Don’t Know Nothing About the City,” “(Do That Dog) Bow Wow Wow,” and the song “Say Baltimore” that became the local television show theme song. Parson also worked with guitarist/writer/producer Billy Butler (Exact Change Records).
Les became involved with television production. He created and hosted the popular entertainment/variety/talk show “Say Baltimore” which ran on WMAR-TV2 from 1982-90. The program featured local and national personalities and celebrities. In 1997 the program was briefly revived on WBFF-TV45.
