Country & Western band led by vocalist Brenda Kay (daughter of L.C. Smith). They had a long-standing gig at the Club Snafu in Essex. Members included Dave Kane (drums), Dave Peddicord (steel guitar)…

Kane was also an excellent singer and was featured several times a night singing, while also playing drums. Bass guitarist Ben Smith recalled “while they were working that gig (Club Snafu), I was brought in to sub for the bass player a few times. I remember once someone sat in on drums which freed Davy (Kane) up so that he did his numbers from stage front and center. He did about three numbers, was very animated and brought the house down. During the break I said something like ‘Damn Davy, you oughta do that more often! You could front your own group.’ Believe it or not, within two months Davy had left Brenda Kay’s band and formed his own, which was going strong several years later.”

March 1976

Dave Nicely (guitar, vocals -301 Country) did a stint with Mod Country. The top billing varied between Brenda and Dave. They performed at Club Stabiles, the Park Lounge, weekends at the Pumpkin Patch…

Dave (Peddicord) and Brenda remained close until she passed away (sometime in the mid-‘90s). During their time together they continued to play music. Peddicord bought Petro’s Music Store in Highlandtown after Petro’s health failed. In early ‘00s Dave moved to Deland, Florida and opened a music store, and continued to play music (steel, guitar, fiddle, banjo, harmonica) with various bands in central Florida.
