Family group also known as the Meros Melody 6 featuring Gene Meros (tenor sax), Stanley Meros (trumpet), Mike Meros (keyboard, accordion), Dennis Meros (drums), along with a younger sister Debbie Meros and brother Terry Meros.

Locally the group performed at school dances (Andover, Brooklyn High Schools), and a regular Sunday matinee gig at Friedman’s Supper Club in Glen Burnie. The group won first prize for their appearances on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour in 1964.

Gene joined the jazz group the New Apocalypse in 1965. He along with Stanley, and Mike were also members of Shelley’s Emeralds. Stanley and Mike left the Emeralds in the summer of 1967 to concentrate on the family band. The Meros Brothers competed in the Teen Fair Battle of the Bands at the Civic Center in June 1968.

Gene Meros worked as an engineer at Flite Three Studios then moved to Larabee Sound in L.A. where he worked with Kiss (“Dressed to Kill,” “Hotter Than Hell”), Yvonne Elliman, Leon Russell (“Americana”), and others. He later worked at Sunset Sound with Van Halen (“Women and Children First,” “Fair Warning”), Doobie Brothers (“One Step Closer”), Pablo Cruise (engineered and performed sax on their 1980 album “Part of the Game”), Nocolette Larsen, Peter Allen, Amy Grant (played sax on “Age to Age” album), Poison, Motley Crue, and others. He also worked as an engineer at WDCA-TV in D.C.

Mike Meros was later a member of The New Apocalypse. He went on to appear on albums by Leon Russell “Americana” (1976), Geno Washington & the Ram Jam Band (1979), Joe Chemay (1981), and played keyboards as a member of the Beach Boys touring band throughout the ‘80s-00s.

Stan Meros played with local band Saturday for 20+ years…

Dennis Meros played with local bands Coyote, and Kahoots in the ‘70s.

A reunion group was re-formed in the late ‘90s and featured the brothers along with guitarist Heime Whitwer.
