Aaron Marcus was studying classical guitar at Towson University and Joel was at the University of Maryland to become a psychotherapist.

With a renewed interest in performing Joel teamed up with his brother Aaron playing a mix of eclectic and avant-garde artistic acoustic music. From 1980 to 1984 the duo performed “everywhere a duo could play in the Baltimore area, including some appearances at the Theater Project,” and the Country Fare Inn on Painters Mill Road… They primarily toured the college campus circuit.

In 1984 Joel stopped touring with Aaron and focused his attention exclusively to writing and producing R&B crossover material and cut demos in all the major local studios. The demos featured Baltimore musicians such as Carl Filipiak, Jimmy Charlsen, Paul Soroka, Buzzy London and Ron DeFilippo. Eventually with the help of Bill Pratt, Joel developed his own home recording studio. Much of his original material was shopped around in New York. His song “Confide in Me” was released by Jimmy Holland in 1988 on B-More Records.

Joel left music in 1987 to devote time to his family and psychotherapy practice.

Aaron went on to become a successful actor and commercial model. He has appeared in many television and movie roles, along with hundreds of radio, TV and print advertisements.
