Rock cover band from Catonsville. Greg Orem (lead guitar ex-Amber), with Tom Osteen, Ron Whittler (bass), Dave VinLanding (lead vocals ex-Arlington VA band Dark Star), and Dave White (keyboards), Eric Conn (guitar). Members also included Larry Bavaro (drums ex-Doubts), Billy Kyger (guitar), Steve Underwood (guitar ex-Amethyst), Alex Makaravich (drums)… Subsequent bassists included Steve Van Order (ex-Sabre, Southern Breed), Frank (name forgotten – formerly with a show band), Dave ‘D.J.’ Glass, Bill Manns (ex-The Thieves).

The 1.0 version did well regionally playing hard rock covers, and before the even more successful 2.0 Hair phase. 

The group performed at most local major clubs including Network, Coast to Coast, Seagull, Martin’s West, Sandbar…

Mannekin toured nationally in 1988. The last incarnation of the band circa 1990 included Orem, and Glass, with Scott LeClaire (drums ex-Kody Lee), and Marc (guitarist/vocalist from Hawaii who had been with originals band Sacred Rite).

Orem left the group in 1991. With a replacement and a second guitarist the group became known as Bomb Squad.

Bavaro also played with Doubts ’80-83, Beat Boys… Conn’s later bands included Against the Grain… White went on to join Warrant… Underwood later with L7, Time Will Tell… Alex later with Never Never, Charles Parker Band…
