Baltimore native and a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music. Mann worked locally as a member of the Dick Riehl Orchestra. After a stint with the Army Band during the Korean War, Mann relocated to Hollywood. His Johnny Mann Singers went on to release dozens of popular easy listening albums during the 1960s, for which they earned two Grammy Awards. Mann also recorded many radio jingles. His compositions have been used for television shows including the Joey Bishop Show, and NBC’s Comedy Hour.
