R&B and rock band morphed out of the band Smile. Glynis Reed (vocals), Sukarno Richardson aka ‘Snooky’ (guitar), Al Berry (bass) later replaced with Gerard Moore, Kevin Eaton (keyboards), Lamont Cedric Johnson (keyboards), Marvin Hammett (drums), Ivan Opher… The group participated in the 1985 “Baltimore for Baltimore” benefit for the Maryland Food Bank.
The Look played Georgetown clubs, The Hideaway (Clinton, MD), and manager John Pender booked the group on the college circuit.
The Look later joined up with Tim Camp becoming known as Royal Function and was one of the first groups to play the Power Plant.
Berry went on to work with Nile Rodgers in New York then to L.A. joining the band Civilization, then striking out as a solo artist with albums “Al Berry” (1997), and “Take the Pain Away” (2001). He later worked with American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson… Hammett aka ‘Slam-G’ worked with The Theater Project in Baltimore. He went on to tour with Juicy, HeavenBound, Britney Spears, Tyrese, Backstreet Boys, and others. He made appearances on many TV programs including Tonight Show, and Late Night with David Letterman, and entertained at functions for at least four U.S. Presidents. Richardson worked with DJ Spen & MuthaFunkas in ‘00s whose record releases include the 2004 12” single “The Best I Can” (Code Red 12-001) and ‘00s bands include Rollex, SlagZ… Johnson later with the Rollex Band, Panama, Radiant, SlagZ… Moore also later with SlagZ…
