Traditional blues guitarist from Granite, Maryland. As a teenager and through his mid-20’s Jackson played locally for various groups, cabarets, and social events. He moved to Philadelphia in the late 1920’s where he eventually did some recordings for RCA Records. In 1957 Jackson and his Quintet released a single “Traveling Stranger” (Baton 239).
In 1961 Pete Welding of radio station WHYY-FM, Philadelphia had heard Jackson and sought him out to do some recordings which were released on a 1963 album “Long Steel Rail” (Testament 201). The album was reissued on CD in 1994 (Testament TCD 5014).
