Top-40 R&B teen cover band from the Milford Mill area founded by Mark Skurnik (organ ex-Charlatans), and Ron Gross (lead vocals), with addition of Howard Fribush (lead guitar), Mike Solomon (bass), Barry Jacobson (drums), Jerry Friedman (tenor sax ex-Charlatans), Irv Letofsky (trumpet), and Joe (trumpet). David Hendler became the new drummer around the time the group went from playing parties to playing teen centers.
After several months a second singer was added, George, a black vocalist, teamed up with Ron to create a “salt and pepper” duo.
Members were students at Milford Mill High School except Friedman who attended Old Court Junior High.
“At a loss for a name for the group, the Delmonicos was chosen from the nameplate of a portable AM/FM radio” according to Skurnik. “…we were nothing more than a little neighborhood Top-40/R&B band… and performed at many private parties, some dances, Wellwood and Church Lane teen centers to name a few.”
Gross was later with Corporation.
